We are with you

When I was a teacher, I had trouble going to sleep on the first night before school. I was usually exhausted from preparing my room so I would eventually drift off and rise ready for the new year. When I became a principal, I never slept on Sunday nights. I would stay up late and have a hard time going to sleep. I would do certain things on that first Sunday before school started to keep me busy. I would always make big batches of cookies, I would drive my son crazy prepping his backpack, supplies and lunches and I would cut my sons and husbands hair. In total, I have been a classroom teacher for 10 years and a principal for 10 years. This year I was really feeling for the teachers and the principals. I love my job but I couldn't see to kick the routine even though it made no sense. I went to the office and found some bulletin boards, I cut the boys hair and I even made treats this week. It was like a spiritual communion with all teachers and teacher leaders. We appreciate you, we support you and we are cheering for you!

What I know for sure..Week 28

Well hello there!
It has been a while since I posted on this blog. No need to say more....
We have returned from our summer vacation. My sweetheart booked us a luxurious trip to Dubai. Dubai you say with a question in your eye. Yes, Dubai. I could go into the reasons but really, the why is not important. The experience, the time together and the big adventure does matter. After returning, getting back into the normal routine and reflecting on the experience, this is what I know for sure...
8-Vacations are awesome
7-Luxurious vacations are even more awesome (thanks babe).
6-Sugar is evil. I had given it up (whole 30) since March and let loose on vacation. It was delish and easy to get into old patterns but I was thrilled to get back home and give it back up. I am even more thrilled to know I can give it up and not behave like an addict.
5-I love to read. I especially love to read good books. Thanks to all the genius authors out there!
4- Laughing like a crazy person with my two boys is my favorite thing in the whole world.
3-The sun feels good on your skin. I need to find more reasons and opportunities to let some vitamin D soak in each day.
2-When you are in the rapids of a waterpark, color, religion and race do not matter. We all pull in our feet to avoid crashes, we all smile as we bump into each other and adults all look at each other with that "this is my family and I love them" shine in their eye. I wish we did this in our every day life.
1-No matter where we are, with my two boys, is my happy place.

Sweet friends make for sweet farewells

Tonight I had the privilege of being invited to a dear friends' farewell and baby shower. The center of this photo-Stacy, is leaving soon for London as her husband is being transferred. I hope they are ready for all the Southern charm heading their way!!
To the left, Sheri. I have known her since Robyn started out yearly scrapbook retreats. She makes me want to be a better person. I love to be around Christian people who just live their beliefs every day. Both of these lovely ladies are adopting babies from China. Tonight we had a baby shower for Stacy as she may be "over the pond" when her little bundle of joy joins their families. Cheerio Stacy! Can't wait to come and visit!!
